the Seville Steppes & Wetlands
The hidden biodiversity of the Guadalquivir Valley
The Guadalquivir Valley is much more than just a landscape. Just a short distance from Seville lies a vast expanse of gently rolling terrain that is home to a variety of habitats for steppe birds, the star species of the plains, as well as waterbirds. The wetlands provide these birds with a vital winter refuge and breeding ground, particularly for the most endangered species.
The Seville countryside is a sanctuary for species such as the White-headed Duck and the Great Bustard, the Little Bustard and Montagu´s Harrier. It is the perfect place to observe these iconic species from a safe distance.
